Week 13&14: Personal Evaluation (Part 2)

After my internship along with my coursework, I now know that to be successful at the next professional level I need to:

  • Prepare extensively
    • create my content calendar, creative brief, and style guide
    • gather my points of contact when I find a gap in my knowledge
  • Go into a team project with a positive attitude and abundant grace
  • Research
    • the company
      • especially , their mission and values
    • the medium in which I am working
    • my teammates and supervisors
    • my audience (extensively!)
  • Examine my strengths and weaknesses before and after the project to see how I've grown like so...
Weaknesses Strengths
It was difficult for me to maintain intrinsic motivation having no hard deadlines and no consequences for not completing my work. However, now that skill is more developed, and I know that it is important for me to create a detailed content calendar before I start any project.
It took me too long to realize that I needed a style guide to create from, so for a while I was creating just random designs. However, because I have a natural eye for design, all these “random designs” look very nice and now I have different style guide bases in the bank for me to use on future projects.
Beginning this internship, I thought that being creative was enough for me to be able to make a website and run social media accounts. I realized quickly that it required a depth of technical and online interpersonal skills that I did not have. However, I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong, when I need help, and when I have a question. I swiftly rallied people around me that I knew had knowledge and wisdom in these areas to assist me.
It is almost never my first choice to work in a team. I prefer working by myself, so when I am put in a team for a project I used to become resentful and irritable. However, after working on everything for this internship nearly completely alone, I have a newfound appreciation for teamwork, and I know I am now a more developed and willing team player.
Fifteen weeks ago, I knew nothing about wineries, vineyards, or running any business at all, and that gap in knowledge definitely slowed down my project progression unexpectedly. However, I have a thirst for knowledge and hunger for wisdom. By week four I was miles ahead of where I started in terms of what I knew about the business. By then, I felt fully like I was a part of Boutier.

This week I edited more photos for the gallery page of the website (this has been a tedious task)
